Absence of Sub-Registrar or vacancy in his office

When any Sub-Registrar is absent, or when his office is temporarily vacant, any person whom the Registrar of the district appoints in this behalf shall be Sub-Registrar during such absence, or until 2[the vacancy is filled up]. STATE AMENDMENT Karnataka Amendment of section 12.-In section 12, after the word "whom" the words "the Inspector-General of Registration or" shall be inserted.]

Uttarakhand Amendment of section 12.—Section 12 of the Principal Act, shall be substituted as follows; namely:-- “12. When any Sub-Registrar is absent, or when his office is temporarily vacant, any person, whom the Inspector-General of Registration appoints in this behalf, shall be Sub-Registrar during such absence or until the vacancy is filled up."
